Add a trigger to a worker
Updated September 21, 2026 · 1 min read
Add a live or scheduled trigger so a worker only runs on the events you choose.
Open Triggers
- Open a worker and go to Settings → Triggers.

Add a trigger
- Click Add trigger, then choose Always-on (reacts to an event) or Scheduled (a recurring cadence).

- For an Always-on trigger, pick the event source, such as a Slack message. For a Scheduled trigger, set the cadence and timezone.
Gate it with Customer segments (optional)
- Add a segment with a plain-language criterion so the worker only continues for matching accounts or messages.
FAQ
What's the difference between a live and a scheduled trigger?
An Always-on trigger reacts as soon as a matching event happens, like an inbound Slack message. A Scheduled trigger runs on a recurring cadence you set, like every hour or every day at a fixed time.
What are Customer segments for?
They gate a matched trigger further with a plain-language criterion — the worker only continues if the segment's condition also matches.
Can a worker have more than one trigger?
Yes. Add as many live or scheduled triggers as you need; the worker proceeds when any enabled trigger matches.
